FUTURE FRAGMENTS

Once again my beautiful friends at Ash To Gold are going to send me broke with their new collection, Future Fragments. I was so disappointed I didn’t get to see their runway debut in person at MBFW this year, but I tracked their progress all the way from Mexico. Nothing short of heart-achingly beautiful, the whole collection was flawless, otherworldly and absolutely unique. There is no other label out there like Ash To Gold – they offer a completely fresh outlook to fashion with standout and individual designs. Not to mention the lust worthy accessories! Give me one of everything, thanks. Congratulations, ladies. You really did an amazing job and I can’t wait to see the rest of your journey unfold.

NYC BY NIGHT

New York truly is a magical place and it was one of my favourite destinations we visited whilst in the US. On our second evening in the city we did an open top bus tour that circled around the city, across the Brooklyn Bridge and back again. What started out as clear skies and a warm evening quickly turned to eerily foggy and overcast as well as one of the coldest nights I have ever experienced. This was actually a good thing for taking photos, as a few of them turned out semi-cartoon like, very Gotham City.

I learnt three things on this bus tour: 1. Always take extra layers on an open deck tour, 2. it’s very difficult to get good photos on a moving bus and 3. New York is absolutely breathtaking when the sun goes down…and when the sun is up for that matter!

More photos of NYC to come! x

RYLEE

My beautiful friend Rylee (and face of our last Starring Nobody campaign) did a shoot whilst in LA with the amazingly talented Neave (@sirneave on instagram) which ended up on Vogue Italia! So proud of her - this is just the beginning of an amazing journey.

FRATELLI

One of my favourite places we dined at in LA was Fratelli Cafe on Melrose. On the amazing recommendation from my good friends Rylee and Elle, we all had the Peanut Butter smoothies…which just happen to be vegan and made on apples! Delish :)

HEAD TO TOE

The only thing getting me to work and dispelling the holiday blues is head to toe Zara. Obsessed much?

USA INSTAGRAM DIARY

Finally back from my five week, whirlwind adventure across the USA and Mexico. Still adjusting to being back and slowly putting the pieces of my life back together in the midst of some serious post holiday blues. I honestly had the best holiday, and possibly best month month of my life and have fallen head over heels… with America. Everyone was so friendly and we met the most amazing people and really just had the best luck we could ask for, stumbling across amazing restaurants and experiences every day. It’s such a wonderful country, I feel like it’s impossible not to be in the right place at the right time.

I am already plotting and planning my return (Coachella tickets go on sale again this week…very tempting!) and daydreaming about the amazing vegan food at Cafe Gratitude, Peanut Butter smoothies at Fratellis, picnics in Central Park and strolling around Soho with a coffee and magnolia bakery in hand. Detailed posts to come, but while I sort through over 5000 photos from my trip, here is a sneak peek from the journey through my instagram pics.

THE ART OF PACKING

Packing can sometimes be more daunting than the trip itself. This is certainly something I’m experiencing trying to pack for a 5 week holiday, with a range of temperatures as well as trying to create the perfect balance between taking enough clothes for the trip but leaving enough space for any new purchases.

The above images taken of pretty treasures that Miroslama Duma packed for NYFW have certainly got me all inspired, however impractical some of the items may be for my trip in particular. I think I will brush up on a pair and a spare’s tips on ‘How To Pack For A Holiday’, with five easy steps to avoid a suitcase catastrophe.

1. Check Climate (for me this will be everything from bikinis to blazers. Bummer.)
2. Gather basics
3. Add colour
4. Rationalise shoes (this is going to be a BIG step for me. Currently have enough to fill the suitcase…)
5. Accessories

Head over to a pair and spare’s blog for more detail on each step here.

MARIE CLAIRE JAMES STREET UP LATE

James Street’s Up Late event is back with a street party to end all street parties, this time pairing up with Marie Claire. The event coincides with Marie Claire’s 200th edition issue, and will see a variety of offers from all the stores in the precinct such as Ksubi, sass & bide, Mimco, Camilla…need I say any more? Ok then…discounts, gifts with purchase, designer meet-and-greets.

sass & bide’s Heidi Middleton, Easton Pearson’s Pamela Easton and Lydia Pearson and Camilla’s Camilla Franks are just a few of the designers who will be in store for you to mingle with on the night. Oh and don’t forget the entire Marie Claire editorial team…yep, that means Jackie Frank too. I can barely contain my excitement!

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, there are also goodie bags. The event is free to the public so there really isn’t any excuse not to pop down to James Street on the 29th of March. I will see you all there for my last pre-holiday shopping spree. My last one I swear! Who could resist such fantastic deals?

COAT X 2

Contemplating my packing list for my impending trip to the USA and Mexico has me daydreaming of everything from bikinis to coats. Due to our seasonally warm Winter’s, I think us Queensland gals tend to dress a little inappropriately for the cold. With temperatures around the mid-20′s during the days, it’s hard to justify purchasing (or packing) a coat…or anything more than a light blazer or knit. I think that’s why I am so drawn to the idea of two blazers or jackets as pictured above – easy to throw on and take off extra layers as the temperature dictates. I will definitely be implementing this in NY and San Fran, which I have been told can still be a little bit cool at the time we are headed there.
